Bench Make-over

For the longest time, I have been itching to do a furniture make-over.  I still plan on getting furniture for the girls' rooms to repaint...just have to find the perfect pieces!  At our last community yard-sale, I found a bench that I thought was cute and would be a perfect piece to go in our entryway.  It was custom made with a seat and side table all in one.  Well, it's cute, but too big!  When I open the front door, I feel like it gets crowded when people are coming in, trying to go around the bench, and when I'm also trying to keep the ferocious dog from attacking!  So, I decided to still make-over the bench and then sell it on the awesome Facebook resale group.

Shame, shame, shame on me for not taking a before picture!  Ughh, I even went through my recent pics to see if I had it in the background....and nothing.  So, the before description would be:  plain medium colored wood with a yucky (no offense to the previous owner) cream with bits of color seat cover.

I started out with a fresh coat of espresso brown paint.  Then, I found a really nice brown, black and tan fabric at Joanne's.  It's very thick so it will hold up well on a seat.

Here is the newly painted and recovered bench:

I decided that it needed something extra.  So I made a throw pillow!  And I made it from material that I had around the house.  I cut up a canvas bag that I was no longer using.  I used the canvas for the pillow.  Then I stuffed it with stuffing from a mattress topper.  Finally, I added some flower rosettes from the leftover fabric.

Here is the finished project! It almost makes me want to keep it now!

**Update**  I am super excited that my friend, Tammy, purchased this bench from me.  She had a PERFECT spot for it and it looks so good in her house.

A Late Thanksgiving Dinner

Because we were in the hospital on Thanksgiving Day, we all got together at my parent's house for a Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday.  It was a little crazy because we had just brought the girls home, but it was really nice to get all of our family together.

Nana gave Makenna twin baby dolls.  She was so cute with her very own twins!!

She wanted to take them home right away! Haha!

Makenna is such a good big sister.  Already wanting to help Daddy with a diaper change.

Uncle Jason holding Tenley.

Grandpa and Grandma with the girls

Grandaddy and Ay-Oh with the girls.

My girls in the shirts I made them!
"Big Sis" Makenna and "Lil Sis" Tenley and "Lil Sis" Harper
Something funny was that Makenna wore that shirt for 3 days straight.  My mom washed it each day of course, but would put her back in it because I wanted a picture with all three girls in thier shirts.  We were finally able to get a picture.  Needless to say, she was proud to be a big sister!!

We are so blessed!

A Ducky Surprise!

We came home from the hospital to find a wonderful surprise..........

How cute is this!?!

Jennifer surprised us with this and I love it!  It was so fun to bring the girls home to a yard full of ducks!  It is actually rented yard signs from a company out of Orlando.  They deliver it and do all of the set up and take down.  It stayed in our yard for a couple days.  Makenna loved it and wanted to go outside all day and pet the ducks!!

Our new family of five!!

The First Days

Here are a few pictures from Harper and Tenley's first days in the hospital.  We had to spend an extra night in the hospital to make sure my blood pressure went back down and to give Tenley some bili-light treatments for jaundice.  We went home on Saturday afternoon.

Holding them for the first time.

Sweet sisters!

Not too sure about them yet!

Such a cute big sister!
